Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026, alongside iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS 27. The headline feature is the one we covered back in July when its public beta opened: a rebuilt Siri that can carry out multi-step tasks, see what your camera is pointed at, and remember past conversations. It's no longer a beta — it's now the version of Siri arriving on ordinary iPhones through a standard software update. Our guide to what's actually new in Siri covers the features themselves in detail; this is about who gets them, starting now.
Which iPhones qualify. You need an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or newer. If you install iOS 27 on an older supported iPhone, you'll get the general update but not the rebuilt Siri — it needs the chip that only those models have.
Having the right iPhone doesn't mean instant access. Even on a qualifying device, most people who update and open Siri are landing on a waitlist rather than getting the new features immediately. Apple is rolling access out gradually rather than switching it on for everyone at once. If you update and nothing looks different yet, that's expected — not a sign something went wrong.
If you're in the European Union, the new Siri isn't coming with this update at all. Apple confirmed it's withholding the rebuilt Siri from iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 for EU-registered Apple Accounts, citing an unresolved dispute over the bloc's Digital Markets Act. Apple says it proposed ways to comply that would let it ship the feature; those proposals haven't been accepted, and there's no date for when EU iPhone and iPad users will get it. Notably, the same rebuilt Siri is shipping in the EU on Mac and Vision Pro with macOS and visionOS 27 — the restriction covers iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, tied to how those devices are regulated under the DMA. If you're in the EU, updating your iPhone to iOS 27 is still worth doing for the other changes, but don't expect the new Siri to show up.
Language matters too, everywhere. Even where the new Siri is available, it launches in English first. Apple has said French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support will follow in October.
How to update. If you're on a qualifying iPhone outside the EU, go to Settings > General > Software Update to install iOS 27. There's no separate download or sign-up needed now that the beta period is over — just the normal update process.
