Ask AI what to cook tonight using only what's already in your kitchen

Tip

Most nights, the hardest part of dinner isn't cooking — it's deciding what to make. Open the fridge, stare at half a bag of spinach, three eggs, and last night's rice, and it's easier to just order takeout or make another store run. AI is good at exactly this kind of puzzle: turning a random list of ingredients into an actual meal.

Tell ChatGPT or Gemini what you already have, and ask it to build a meal around it:

"I have list your ingredients — e.g. spinach, three eggs, half an onion, cooked rice, cheddar cheese. Suggest one simple dinner I can make mostly with these, using only basic pantry staples (salt, oil, pepper) for anything else. Keep it under 30 minutes and walk me through it step by step."

You can be as specific as you like — mention how many people you're feeding, any allergies, or that you only have 15 minutes to cook. If the first suggestion doesn't sound appealing, just ask for a different one; it costs nothing to try again. This works just as well for lunch, a school-week breakfast, or figuring out what to do with produce that's about to go bad.

One thing to watch: AI recipe suggestions are a starting point, not a food-safety check — use your own judgment about anything that smells off or has sat in the fridge too long, and double-check any ingredient swap yourself if you're cooking for someone with a serious allergy.

Next time you're staring into the fridge wondering what to make, skip the guesswork — describe what's in there and let AI figure out dinner.
