Turn a messy head into a to-do list

Tip

Some days everything is in your head at once: the dentist, a form to send, a birthday present, the car service. Instead of juggling it all, empty your head into a chatbot such as ChatGPT or Gemini and let it sort the pile.

Write (or dictate with the microphone button) everything that comes to mind, in any order, then add:

"Here is everything I need to do, in no particular order. Please turn it into a short to-do list. Put the most urgent things first, group similar jobs together, and tell me the three things I should do today."

Do not tidy your thoughts first; the messier the better, because sorting is the chatbot's job. If something is missing a date, say so ("the form is due Friday"). Afterwards you can ask: "Which of these can I do in five minutes?" or "Which one can I ask someone else to do?" Copy the result into your notes or onto paper.

One thing to watch: Leave out passwords, card numbers and other people's private details. And check the list before you trust it: the chatbot can only sort what you told it, and it may misjudge what is urgent. You know your week best.

Tonight or tomorrow morning, spend two minutes emptying your head into a chat. It is a small relief you can feel straight away.
